PROJECT · EALING W5
Rear Extension & Kitchen
A Victorian mid-terrace in Ealing with the classic problem: a dark galley kitchen cut off from a small dining room, and a garden nobody could see from inside the house.
We took the rear of the ground floor back to brick, removed the dividing wall onto a new steel, and built a 4-metre rear extension with a glazed gable onto the garden. The kitchen was moved to the party wall so the whole back of the house could open up, with a run of full-height glazing where the old outrigger used to be.
The steel went in on week five and the family stayed in the house throughout, with a temporary kitchen in the front room. Handover was on the date we quoted, and the ground floor now reads as one bright room from front door to garden.
